Karina Garcia

Hi! I'm Karina Garcia and I am majoring in Natural Resources with an emphasis in Conservation Biology and a minor in Marine Science. I am a sophomore and I teach 6th-8th grade at Mansfeld Middle Magnet School. I first heard about the Bio/Diversity Project in my CHEM151 class and what interested me the most was that they worked with kids from K-12th grade who came from places such Africa, Mexico, Iraq, Syria, and many other places, and how they teach and inspire them to want to become a scientist since the percentages of people of with those backgrounds are pretty low in science-related fields. This project showed me an opportunity to make a difference in someone's life, even it was just one or two kids! I bonded with the kids and created a relationship with them by them learning from me and I even learned from them!
