K-12 Lesson Plans

Through their internship with The Bio/Diversity Project, University of Arizona students create and adapt lesson plans that are hands-on, culturally-relevant, and place-based within the Sonoran Desert. All lesson plans are formatted within our 5-E model lesson plan template.

At the top of the template, the lesson plan will list the teachers (the student authors of the lesson plan), the grade level this lesson is intended for, and the time requirement it would take to teach this lesson. All lesson plans are aligned with the 2018 Arizona State Science Standards, include SMART (specific, measurable, action-oriented, relevant, and time-bound) content objectives, as well as information about the Scientist of the Week - a diverse role model within the STEM fields whose work focuses on the topic of the lesson plan.
