About the Program

As an intern, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside educators in K-12 classrooms developing and delivering place-based and identity-based environmental science curricula. You'll also develop science communication skills and broaden your knowledge of environmental science, gender, and racial equity issues while simultaneously providing encouragement and outreach to underrepresented groups of K-12 students.

*NEW* Data Science Outreach Opportunity

Data science outreach interns with the Bio/Diversity Project receive training, mentorship, and work experience while fostering gender and racial equity within the STEM fields. Interns are paired with local high school teachers to teach data science lessons through the lens of biodiversity conservation. No coding experience is required! Applicants should have enthusiasm and willingness to learn more about coding using R. Additionally, interns can elect to enroll in an independent study course with UArizona data scientists to gain further coding skills and experience.
