Yvonne Kan

Hi, my name is Yvonne Kan! I am currently a sophomore at the University of Arizona, and I am majoring in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. I am very interested in the topics of place-based environmental learning and how to foster diversity in an academic setting as well as in the field of STEM. It is extremely valuable to create a learning environment that is relevant and engaging to students, especially for those who come from different backgrounds, may have limited access to certain resources, or are underrepresented in this field. I hope that this internship will serve as an opportunity for me to give back to my community and inspire younger students to see themselves as future scientists. I am very excited to be a part of the Bio/Diversity Project!
