Expand student access to innovative, hands-on environmental science programming!
About the Program
The Bio/Diversity Project aims to increase interest in the environmental sciences and foster a sense of environmental responsibility among K-12 students in the Tucson metro area. Partner teachers are matched with a team of UA student interns who visit schools for a minimum of 1 hour per week to deliver environmental science-related lessons.
Each participating class receives a free field trip to Saguaro National Park!
Expectations of Teacher Partners
- Attend 3-4 hours of program related training and planning in August 2023 (teachers are compensated at $25/hour for attendance)
- Provide interns on constructive feedback and guidance on effective classroom management and educational strategies
- Commit to fostering interest and diversity in environmental sciences and knowledge of our local habitat and ecosystems (no prior knowledge required).
- Dedicate a minimum of 1 hour of class time per week to program-related activities.
